Notice of Potential Night Work at VTA’s Newhall Yard & Maintenance Facility Beginning Week of 6/24 through 7/26

What

Contractors will be staging equipment when not in use around the future Diridon Station to help prepare for VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase II Project.  

Where

The activity will take place in the VTA Parking Lot in front of the SAP Center, along Santa Clara St, between Cahill St. and Montgomery St.

Notice of Potential Night Work at VTA’s Newhall Yard & Maintenance Facility Beginning Week of 6/24 through 7/26

What

  • VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase II (BSVII) project has begun preparing the West Portal site at the future Newhall Yard & Maintenance Facility for Early Construction activities.
  • Starting the week of June 24, construction subcontractors will perform the installation of track survey prisms and monitor stations along the existing railroad tracks adjacent to the future West Portal site (map below).
  • The work will utilize light plants and generators for night work, that will be pointed down on the construction side to minimize light pollution.
  • The work will involve trucks delivering blocks and other equipment the week of June 24 and night work with trucks backing up.

Where

Alongside existing railroad tracks adjacent to the West Portal site.

When*

Construction Monday through Friday, 6/24-7/26, including night work. Night work with trucks for material delivery 6/24-6/28.

What to Expect

  • Construction trucks/vehicles will enter at Newhall St.
  • BSVII project construction workers to be onsite.
  • There may be vibrations and noise disturbances associated with concrete block delivery.

Why

Night work necessary for installation of monitors while commuter rail services are not in service.

  • VTA’s BART Silicon Valley Phase II (BSVII) project will begin preparing the West Portal site at the future Newhall Yard & Maintenance Facility for Early Construction activities.
  • Starting as early as the week of April 22, construction associated with site preparation including site grading, fencing and screening upgrades, and installation of construction equipment and trailers will commence.

Where

On VTA’s property; the future Newhall Yard & Maintenance Facility.

Early Construction work hours are Monday to Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM, with Saturday hours as-needed.

  • Fencing and screening around entire VTA property.
  • Construction trucks/vehicles will enter at Newhall St or Brokaw Rd.
  • BSVII project construction workers to be onsite starting April 22, 2024.
