Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s (VTA) BART Silicon Valley Phase II Extension Project (BSVII Project) is Santa Clara County’s largest public infrastructure project. The BSVII Project is a six-mile extension of the regional BART system from Berryessa/North San José Station to the City of Santa Clara. With four stations, the project will serve 55,000 weekday riders, providing a fast and convenient transit option and improving connections to other regional transit services.

VTA’s BSVII Project will support mobility for transit-dependent populations, increase access to employment centers and opportunities, and stimulate economic development throughout Santa Clara County. Around stations, the project will help foster vibrant, pedestrian-friendly, transit-oriented communities that nurture neighborhoods’ unique identities and support local businesses and microenterprises.Â

BART Board of Directors accepted the Project SEIR, adopted VTA's Findings and Statement of Overriding Considerations for the SEIR, and, pursuant to the Comprehensive Agreement, approved the BSVII Project.Â
2018-2023
Design and Engineering
VTA awarded general engineering consultant contract to Mott MacDonald/PGH Wong. BSVII Project is the first to submit for critical federal funding program. Contract Packages 1 and 2 Request for Qualifications are released.
2024-2035
Construction
Early works construction starting in Spring 2024.
2035-2037
Systems Testing & Commissioning
Target revenue service.
